DECLAN MCKENNA THE KIDS DON'T WANNA COME HOME

Declan McKenna is a name you should know well by now. Since dropping out of school to pen his debut album he’s been busy making great pop / indie tracks, and recently earned a coveted BBC Sound of 2017 nomination. His new release, ‘The Kids Don’t Wanna Come Home’ is no exception. It’s an anthemic, rocking number complete with great melodies and solid guitar hooks. McKenna has a voice well beyond his 18 years, and is out to prove a real point with ‘The Kids Don’t Wanna Come Home’. Written in the wake of the Paris terror attacks, it tackles head on the frustration in politicised young adults whose parents perceive them as being disengaged from the real world and glued to the virtual. “Well hey there mother mine / Your kids are sick but they're gonna be just fine”, McKenna cries. If his performance on Later… with Jools Holland is anything to go by, it looks like McKenna’s live show is not one to miss – snap up some of the spots available for his extensive UK tour which takes place this January. - HM
